01Overview
Somatropin is recombinant human growth hormone, identical in sequence to the hormone made by the pituitary. It is dispensed as Zomacton®, an FDA-approved medicine.
It is approved for diagnosed growth hormone deficiency and a few other conditions. Federal law limits growth hormone to those approved uses, so your physician confirms a qualifying diagnosis, usually with lab testing, before prescribing.
